BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s top court on Thursday dismissed appeals over the murder of a regional politician who had advocated for refugee aid, upholding the life sentence of a far-right extremist convicted of carrying out the execution-style murder that shocked the country.
Walter Luebcke, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party who headed the regional administration of the Kassel region in central Germany, was shot dead on his porch in 2019.
