Avnet begins construction of a new German distribution center

“With the start of construction of our state-of-the-art, high-performance distribution center for semiconductor electronics and electronic components in Bernburg, Germany, we as a company can ensure that we can meet the needs market growth and implement our growth strategy We are investing in the site and will thus create several hundred jobs over the next few years,” explains Slobodan Puljarevic, President of Avnet EMEA, in an Invest in Saxony-Anhalt.
With the start of the construction phase, Avnet will also begin to recruit the necessary personnel.
In the first construction phase, a total of 56,000 square meters of logistics space, 4,600 square meters of office space and a Product Finishing Center (PMC) with an area of approximately 1,100 square meters will be created. Possible extension areas are planned. According to the press release, around 700 jobs in total are expected to be created here by 2031.
With construction to begin in September 2022, a phased commissioning is planned for 2024. The company says up to 19,000 packages are to be delivered by daily to more than 30,000 customers worldwide. The Bernburg (Saale) site complements Avnet’s two existing European distribution centers in Tongeren, Belgium, and Poing near Munich.
